A spokesman for Rajar said it has begun the search for a new chief executive officer to replace de la Bedoyere when she leaves Rajar at the end of June.

De la Bedoyere joined Rajar in January 2004 and is leaving without a job to go to. She said: "I have accomplished most of the things I set out to do, from introducing a new contract in 2007 to launching the MIDAS Surveys in 2007, as well as undertaking thorough and exhaustive tests into electronic measurement systems and devices."

Rajar collects and processes radio diaries from respondents. Those radio diaries form the basis of the official measurement and profile of commercial and BBC radio stations in the UK and commercial radio stations use Rajar figures when trading radio air time.

Respondents currently write out their radio diaries by hand. De le Bedoyere said: "I leave behind a strong, hard-working and dedicated team who are well on the way to introducing a new, online methodology, which is set to meet the growing opportunity of digital radio."

David Mansfield, chairman of Rajar, said: "Sally has achieved a tremendous amount for RAJAR over the past six years, often in very challenging circumstances. On behalf of the RAJAR Board I would like to thank her for her commitment to RAJAR and the radio industry and wish her every success for the future."
