Radio Times to produce tailored edition for NTL viewers

LONDON - NTL has signed a deal with BBC Worldwide that will see a tailored version of weekly TV listings magazine Radio Times available exclusively for the cable operator's 3m residential cable TV customers from January.

The new weekly will contain programming for channels carried on NTL, including the UK's terrestrial stations, as well as information about NTL services and offers, news, features and celebrity interviews.

It is the first time BBC Worldwide has produced an exclusive version of the Radio Times for a third party.

The first issue of the magazine, which replaces the monthly NTL Guide, will be available in the first week of January and will be delivered free to homes. As part of an introductory deal, customers will be offered the first four issues at the same price as the NTL Guide, which ceases publication in December.

Ashley Munday, publishing director of Radio Times, said: "As multichannel TV continues to grow, Radio Times needs to cater for the diverse requirements of viewers across all TV platforms."

The Radio Times has a paid-for weekly circulation of 1,155,064, according to its most recently published ABC figure for January-June. This new edition will give the Radio Times a combined circulation of 4.1m.

Rival Sky Magazine is sent free to its 6m customers.
