Radio body uses top marketers to promote medium

The Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) has enlisted senior marketers from three of the UK's biggest radio advertisers to help promote radio as an ad medium.

Toyota's commercial director Mike Moran, Vodafone's head of advertising Guy Phillipson, and Russell Morris, Sainsbury's marketing manager, all star in humorous 60-second spots due to air from January.

It is the first time the RAB has used real marketers to promote the value of radio on air.

In their respective ads, the three marketers appear opposite actor Chris Langham, who takes on the role of a bumbling interviewer and asks them for their views on radio advertising and how using the medium has aided the growth of their brands.

He starts the interview with Toyota's Moran by saying: "Mike. That's not a typical Japanese name, is it?" and then proceeds to punctuate the interview with a series of words that rhyme with Toyota vehicle models.

The campaign has been created by specialist radio creative agency Eardrum.
