Radio ad recovery boosts UBC revenues

LONDON - UBC Media is expecting April to September revenues to be up by 9% on last year, due in part to a recovery in radio advertising, according to a trading update today.

At UBC's commercial division, which provides advertiser-funded network programmes to commercial radio, revenues are expected to be up by 13%. Its radio content division is expecting revenues to be up by 17%.

The company said its new consumer service, Cliq, which allows people to download music they hear on the radio via their mobile or an internet-connected radio set, will fully launch on December 4.

UBC also revealed that finance director Jenny Donald will be leaving in December, after seven years, to sail around the world. Until a permanent replacement is found, Gavin Rigby, who has been UBC's financial controller for four years, will become acting finance director.

Simon Cole, chief executive of UBC, said: "Jenny will leave UBC's finances in rude health with cash in the bank for development.

"We thank Jenny for her service, she has waited patiently for the right opportunity to take this maritime adventure and we wish her well with this exciting journey."
