RAB commits to creative with double hiring

The Radio Advertising Bureau is stepping up its bid to address the creative community with two appointments.

Derek Morris, the chief strategic officer of Publicis, will take the role of RAB non-executive chairman alongside his full-time job at Publicis.

Morris' brief is to help the RAB build a working relationship on radio between media planners and creatives.

The RAB has also appointed John Dalziel, a former business director at Ogilvy & Mather and an account director at M&C Saatchi, as the director of creative agency partnerships.

Dalziel is the senior hiring the RAB intended to make following the departure of its managing director, Justin Sampson, to ITV.

Dalziel's role will be to strengthen relationships with creative agencies after the launch of the RAB's Aerials Foundation initiative, which will continue to be chaired by HOW's Chris O'Shea.

The Aerials Foundation was launched as part of the RAB's aim to move from addressing the media community to the ambition of generating "radio advertising to be proud of".

Douglas McArthur, the chief executive of the RAB, said of Morris' involvement: "Derek has real credentials with major creative agency clients, but rather uniquely has a complete media background through full-service agency, media department, media independent and media boutique."

Morris has had close links with the radio industry throughout his career, serving as a spokesman for radio on the IPA's media policy group and working on projects for the RAB while at Unity.
