QXL.com seeks revenue from user ad spots

QXL.com, the UK arm of online auction group QXL ricardo, is to launch a scheme that allows users to promote their auctions.

The firm aims to generate additional revenue through the scheme, which is called Promotional Packages and Fees.

It will allow users to feature their auctions on the QXL.com home page for £19.95 and on a category home page for £6.95. A user selling a computer, for example, will be able to pay an additional fee to see their auction featured on the home page of QXL.com's computer auctions section.

The scheme goes live this week. The site also charges sellers for both listings and successful sales.
