Q: formal goes on test |
Emap is continuing its brand extension drive, launching music monthly title Q magazine on to radio for the first time.
Through a restricted service licence, the music magazine will take on the guise of Radio Q and will be broadcast 24 hours a day, seven days a week across north London.
Launching on October 6, Radio Q will be on air throughout October, leading up to the Q awards. The station will be broadcast across the area that formerly served as Xfm's test region, as well as being streamed through the Q website, www.q4music.com.
Q editor Danny Eccleston said: "Radio Q will provide a long-needed opportunity to hear decent music over the airwaves.
"It will provide an up-to-date mix of current chart singles, top 40 album tracks and catalogue songs from Q's pantheon of great artists."
An Emap spokeswoman added: "We will be looking at how Radio Q performs and use that as a basis for developing future plans. While a permanent feature is not imminent, it is something we are investigating."
