Publishers gang up on Tesco

Magazine and newspaper publishers across the UK are believed to be launching an advertising campaign attacking supermarket chain Tesco.

LONDON (Brand Republic) – Magazine and newspaper publishers across the UK are believed to be launching an advertising campaign attacking supermarket chain Tesco.

Tesco is refusing to stock titles published by Gruner & Jahr, which has not enlisted for a new national distribution service devised by Tesco and WH Smith News.

The campaign is expected to highlight that magazines should be available universally.

Gruner & Jahr’s portfolio of magazines includes Prima and Best. It was recently acquired by UK publisher National Magazines from Bertelsmann.
