LONDON (Brand Republic) - Triangle Group, one of the last independent marketing communications group left in the UK, has been bought by Publicis Groupe for an undisclosed sum.
Triangle was founded in 1975 as a below-the-line specialist direct marketing and sales promotion agency by industry gurus Kevin Twittey and Roger Hyslop, whose 25-year partnership was one of the longest in the agency world.
The group now has four divisions -- Triangle Communications, Storm, Perceptor and Eye II Eye -- with revenues of around £11m and a staff of 200. Its clients include Britvic, BT, Cadbury, Guinness, GlaxoSmithKline, Woolworths and Safeway.
Triangle has been looking for a partner for more than a year and has long been courted by larger international groups. Publicis Groupe chairman Maurice Levy said its acquisition of Triangle would strengthen its non-advertising division, collectively known within the group as specialised agencies and marketing services.
According to Levy, Triangle will not be aligned with the London office of Publicis, but will instead be expanded in Europe both independently and in partnership with Saatchi & Saatchi, which Publicis acquired last year.
Publicis Groupe is the world’s fifth-largest advertising and communications group with offices and affiliated agencies in 192 cities in 100 countries and total billings of around €10bn (£6.24bn).
