Psion to float mobile phone joint venture Symbian

Handheld computer manufacturer Psion is to float Symbian, its joint venture with mobile phone companies Nokia, Motorola and Ericsson and Japanese company Matsushita.

LONDON (Brand Republic) - Handheld computer manufacturer Psion is to float Symbian, its joint venture with mobile phone companies Nokia, Motorola and Ericsson and Japanese company Matsushita.

Symbian was set up to develop mobile devices using Psion鈥檚 proprietary EPOC operating system. Psion, which is the largest shareholder of Symbian, said the flotation was subject to 鈥済ood progression in the establishment of volume products, and to prevailing conditions in the financial markets鈥.
