Prudential hands UK marketing reins to Egg chief

Prudential has promoted Alison Wright, chief marketing officer of its online banking brand Egg, to oversee consumer marketing for both brands, four months after joining the firm.

Her promotion follows last week's announcement that Prudential UK and Europe marketing director Roger Ramsden is to leave the company following a management reshuffle (Marketing, 17 May).

Wright will be responsible for a £40m annual promotional budget in the UK and has been tasked with boosting cross-selling between the two brands.

A former managing director of Manning Gottlieb OMD, Wright joined Egg in January from WCRS, where she oversaw the Abbey account. Her recruitment came as Prudential embarked on the integration of the Egg brand into its business, having acquired the remaining 27% stake that it did not own.

Wright is already handling a £20m pitch for the group's media planning and buying pitch to pool the business into a single shop.
