Prudential director departs in management rejig

Prudential UK and Europe marketing director Roger Ramsden is leaving the finance firm after four and a half years.

His departure at the end of this month follows a management reshuffle that has led to the disbanding of Prudential's marketing and product development team.

A statement from the Prudential confirmed that Ramsden's departure was a result of the company's restructure. It is not known if Ramsden has a job to go to.

The rejigged management structure comprises three departments; wealth and health management, which will be overseen by Gary Shaughnessy, retirement income, directed by Andy Biggs and banking, headed by Mark Nancarrow.

Prudential is reviewing its £20m media planning and buying account. Alison Wright, chief marketing officer of its online banking brand Egg, will now be solely responsible for concluding the review, which is intended to consolidate the group's media business into a single agency. The pitch was called late last year (Marketing, 7 December) after Prudential took full ownership of Egg.

Last month Egg announced the closure of three UK sites, leaving 700 jobs at risk.

Ramsden joined Prudential in November 2001 from his role as retail format director at Safeway.
