Gray will be the last co-founder of Proximity predecessor BHWG to leave the agency. He leaves at the end of the year and will be replaced in the New Year.

Barraclough Hall Woolston Gray was launched in 1991 and acquired by Omnicom-owned AMV Group in the mid 1990s. It was rebranded Proximity London in 2001 following its merger with Clark Hooper and Traffic.

Gray's partners included Elly Woolston, now chairman of Cheltenham-based agency DMS, part of DMG.

Chris Barraclough went on to found Barraclough Edwards Chamberlain and Simon Hall founded Hall Moore CHI, now CHI & Partners. Marketing consultant Shona Forster was the fifth partner.

In his new role at DMG, Gray will head up and help launch a new division within the agency designed to attract ethical, sustainable and "belief-based" businesses.

To launch the offering alongside Gray, DMG has also drafted in Woolston and DMS’ joint head of planning Steven Dodds. However, both will also continue to be significantly involved with DMS’s existing clients.

DMG’s new offering will officially be unveiled in the New Year.
