Prince Charles will guest edit the 14 November issue of the weekly magazine, in which every story will have an association with his rural interests and portfolio.

Country Life claims it is the first time a member of the Royal Family has guest-edited a publication.

Editor Mark Hedges and the editorial team will work with the Prince on the issue, which will also feature an exclusive interview with him.

Hedges said: "Since its launch in 1897, Country Life has been privileged to be given access to the Royal Family at times of national celebrations.

Country Life readers voted The Prince the best individual guardian of rural areas in a survey in 2008, ahead of the Queen and figures such as Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.
