The Preference Service launches email opt-in list

LONDON - The Preference Service has launched a permission-based email database called Opt-inE-data to help marketers comply with forthcoming European regulations about email marketing.

The list has been collated using information obtained from the Postal Preference Service's consumer questionnaire.

Consumers' details are only added to the email list if they agree on the form to receive email marketing campaigns about specific offerings.

Thomas Adalbert, managing director at The Preference Service, said: "The arrival of this product will help to raise the credibility of the industry by preventing the sending of unsolicited and unwanted direct marketing material. With access to lists of consumers who want to hear from specific advertisers, there are no longer any excuses for non-permission-based campaigns.

"By increasing the accuracy and targeting of campaigns, Opt-inE-data will increase response rates, return on investment and brand credibility."

The Preference Service launched in October 2000 and has collected data on more than 3m households in the UK.
