Power 100 2019: Katie Evans

Chief marketing officer, Burger King UK

Evans, who joined Burger King in February 2018 and previously ran marketing at Gourmet Burger Kitchen, says her job has been "reigniting relevance and salience" for the brand. A highlight came last November when a three-word riposte to Kanye West over his preference for McDonald’s – "explains a lot" – became the most-liked branded tweet ever. Evans has made several appointments, including a head of digital, and hired agencies, including Bartle Bogle Hegarty. Major campaigns have included the launch of the Crispy Chicken burger (featuring chief executive Alasdair Murdoch), and "Whopper mandate", the start of efforts to reignite love for the brand’s flagship product.
