Postman Pat to front Specsavers ad campaign

LONDON - Postman Pat, the 80s children's TV character, has been revived in the latest TV campaign for Specsavers.

The ad, which breaks on 1 September, sees the famously bespectacled Pat break his glasses and attempt to navigate his postal round with severely impaired vision.

Pat proceeds to create havoc in the village of Greendale, delivering vegetables rather than post and crashing into street signs in his red van.

Shot using a 16mm camera, the spot attempts to maintain the vintage feel of the BBC TV series, complete with the original cast of characters.

The stop-frame animation ad, which carries the regular  should’ve gone to Specsavers line, was created in-house by Specsavers and directed by Darren Walsh, who shot the recent comparethemarket.com meerkat campaign.
