- A poster campaign depicting two women about to kiss has been dropped by poster company TDI, following consultation with the Advertising Standards Authority.

The poster, for women's fashion retail brand Sisley, was immediately passed onto to the ASA by TDI, for fear that the subject matter would open it up to a string of complaints from the public.

TDI was advised by the ASA that it would uphold any complaints it received from the public if the campaign, which was created by Italian agency Creative Media and was planned and bought by Poster Publicity, were to go ahead.

Robert Thurner, marketing manager at TDI, commented: "We offered to help redesign the section of the poster which featured two models in close embrace. It was our view that certain sections of the public would object.

"We were strongly advised by the ASA not to take it with that kiss, which I would say is a responsible stance to take as a media owner. We want to assist a successful self regulatory system." he said.

Liz Sage senior account manager at Poster Publicity, said: "It is frustrating when a campaign that has been carefully planned and bought is suddenly vetoed. I am very surprised that the poster is not considered an acceptable image in the 1990s."
