Post Office chief marketing officer Pete Markey is leaving after two years in the role to become UK director of brand communications and marketing at Aviva.

Markey left insurer RSA after three years to take up the CMO job at the Post Office in May 2014, but is now returning to the insurance industry.

In his new role at Aviva Markey will be responsible for Aviva’s Good Thinking marketing campaign, taking over from Keith Bibby, who held the role on an interim basis.

He will report to Aviva UK customer marketing director Lindsay Forster.

Forster said: "Pete is an experienced director, having worked across a range of disciplines including marketing, sales, e-business, operations and strategy."

Markey was featured in and during his time at the Post Office the ‘We’re changing’ campaign delivered double-digit improvement to brand-health metrics, helped drive a 7% revenue increase and recorded an ROI of £3 for every £1 spent.

His team at the Post Office also picked up the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s ‘Marketing Team of the Year’ award in 2015.

Prior to his job at RSA he was also marketing director at fellow insurer More Th>n.
