Porsche has poached Hyundai marketer Wayne Darley to fill the new position of brand communications and strategy manager.
Darley will oversee the car brand's above- and below-the-line marketing communications. He will report to Porsche head of marketing Geoff Turral in the newly created position.
Darley has spent three years as product marketing manager in charge of new launches at Hyundai, including the Coupe and the Evolution in 1999. Hyundai has not yet appointed a replacement.
Before Hyundai, Darley spent ten years at BMW GB, moving from market research executive to product development manager.
At Porsche Darley will look after marketing activity and will work on areas such as research and customer relationships. He will look at the long-term positioning of the brand in the build-up to its entry into the sports utility market in 2002 with the Cayenne four-by-four.
Porsche spends about pounds 5m a year on marketing, most of which goes into direct marketing, customer relationship management, PR and events.
