PlayStation links up for Xfm show 'The Third Place'

Sony Computer Entertainment has joined forces with Xfm to create a weekly radio show called The Third Place, the advertising tagline for PlayStation 2.

The tie-up is the first such deal between a games brand and radio station and illustrates PlayStation's ongoing strategy of outgrowing its roots to be a general lifestyle brand.

The show broadcasts from later this month every Sunday between midnight and 1am and will combine the week's entertainment news with the latest dance tunes. Xfm's Eddy Temple Morris will produce the show.

Sony said The Third Place would "layer the best in chilled but atmospheric grooves with choice samples of the week's entertainment highlights".

The show will also be promoted in Xfm's in-house dance music magazine X-Ray. "The Third Place will exist on air, online and on page and take consumers far beyond the normal relationship between media channel and commercial partner," said Xfm sales manager Andy Carr. TBWA/London created the Third Place concept.
