Plans for 12 fake housemates revealed as Big Brother 6 gears up for launch

LONDON - Channel 4 is planning a spectacular stunt to get the sixth series of 'Big Brother' underway by picking not one but two sets of housemates, 11 of whom will be evicted just hours later with only one surviving the public vote to join the real contestants.

Channel 4 bosses have come up with the idea of picking a dummy team to enter the house by allowing them to say their goodbyes and pack their bags in preparation of the longest-running Big Brother yet, which will last 100 days.

The plan emerged yesteday as details of the identities of the real 12 housemates were published in the Sunday Mirror. They include Wendy, a married woman described as a possible mother figure to the others; Abby, a long-haired "hippy chick" brunette; Sophie, a blonde bombshell who Big Brother bosses hope will provide sexual antics; her competition will come from Fiona, described as a 20-year-old sex kitten.

Among the men, there is Christopher a laugh-a-minute Jack the lad; David, a rugged former policeman and likely to be the housewives' favourite; and Steve, another cheeky chappy with a feminine side.

The series usually lasts for 64 days, making it a reality television marathon at 100 days. The 50% extra will prove a financial filip for Channel 4, which will gain extra considerable extra revenue from the longer-running show.

BB6 will be full of even more surprises with housemates being given a £5,000 fund when they first walk through the doors and the opportunity of getting another £5,000 for every week that they survive.

If a contestant gets evicted, they will have to give half their total winnings to a surviving housemate. However, after two months they can keep all their money even if they are evicted.

The sixth series will also see the return of the divided rich and poor split household last seen in 'BB4', which gave the world Jade Goody.

Individuals in the "Owl" house will only be allowed out at night and have no windows and artificial lighting while those in the "Sun" house will only be getting out during the daytime. Each group will have their own bedrooms, living area, bathroom and kitchen.

The show kicks off on May 27 and runs until September 3. It will feature the show's long-running presenters Davina McCall and Dermot O'Leary.
