It’s showdown time in the Lloyds Bank media review as the marketing director, Katherine Kehoe, holds a single briefing for all involved at the Covent Garden Hotel today (Thursday). Two agencies are involved in the Rail Delivery Group’s advertising review: Engine and M&C Saatchi. Pitches are scheduled for the first week in February, while initial submissions are due next week. Paddy Power’s mischief-making continued at the pitch briefing for its ad review this Tuesday. The shortlisted agencies (BMB, Fold7, Grey London and M&C Saatchi) were hosted at the Tower of London. Ahead of the meeting, Paddy Power had kindly gone to Deed Poll and filled out forms for the ad execs to change their names to famous residents of the tower.
The review is being handled by Oystercatchers – and its project manager, Hannah Scanlon, got into the spirit of things, spending the day in a pair of green Paddy Power underpants and agreeing to change her name to Lady Jane Grey. Of the assembled ad execs, only M&C Saatchi’s chief executive, Tom Bazeley, got out his pen, signing the form as Guy Fawkes with Dave Bedwood as a witness.
Paddy Power: project manager Scanlon
Paddy Power had suggested names for all the execs, including Robert Walpole for BMB’s Trevor Beattie and Thomas Cromwell for Fold7’s Ryan Newey. Bazeley safely stashed the document into his back pocket to give himself time to think about it – but to his horror, by the time he and Bedwood and Richard Storey had decamped for a post-meeting debrief in a nearby coffee shop, it had disappeared. More mischief-making from Paddy Power? Only time will tell.
