Pitch update: Bargain Booze, TfL, AG Barr

Bargain Booze, the cheap alcohol retailer, was so chuffed with its most recent "Aldi Shmaldi" price comparison print campaign that it had started speaking to agencies about bringing the idea to TV.

Unfortunately, new-business directors around adland are now having to cross the prospect off their lists given that Aldi is taking Bargain Booze to the High Court over the campaign.

Spare a thought for all the fingernails at 36 Golden Square after Transport for London delayed its decision over which agencies will go through to the tender stage of its ad review. M&C Saatchi is the incumbent and has worked on the account since 2001. TfL had said it would let the ten-or-so shops know by last Friday but it has pushed that back until tomorrow (Friday). TfL is also reviewing its media business as part of the process, which is being handled by AAR.

The pitches for AG Barr’s UK digital account are due to take place next week. Three agencies have made the shortlist, while Creativebrief is handling the review.
