Pipex seeks agency for first advertising

Pipex, the internet service provider, has called a pitch for its £3 million creative account. The company has asked agencies to develop ideas for its first ad campaign.

Pipex is the UK's fifth-biggest internet service provider, with more than 420,000 business and home users. It does not currently have an advertising agency.

The pitch comes as internet service providers begin to offer more aggressive pricing and packages. Broadband is growing faster than ever, and nearly 60 per cent of the UK is connected to the internet via broadband, according to the Office for National Statistics.

Pipex announced last September that it will offer users 24 megabyte broadband as part of its investment in local loop unbundling. More recently, Carphone Warehouse announced it will offer free broadband access as part of its Talk Talk service. It is investing £60 million to install its own broadband kit in about 1,000 BT exchanges.

Pipex was unavailable to comment.
