The first Brides The Show, which took place between 11 and 13 October at London's Battersea Evolution, attracted more than 5,500 brides-to-be and their bridal parties.

The three-day luxury bridal event was organised by Single Market Events (SME) London in partnership with Condé Nast Brides magazine, and replaced the biannual Designer Wedding Show, which was run by Foxglove Events since 2004.

Brides The Show saw more than 130 brands and boutiques exhibit including Bobbi Brown, Laurent-Perrier and Babington House.

Highlights included the Imagination Room – a series of DIY styling and bridal craft workshops; On The Sofa – a programme of interviews, Q&As and presentations with industry experts; and the Sommelier’s Table, consisting of wine and champagne tastings with food ideas to match.

The event’s catwalk was styled by the magazine’s fashion director Bryony Toogood, and included an exclusive Iconic Wedding Dress exhibition in partnership with American Airlines. It consisted of 22 iconic celebrity wedding gowns worn by the likes of Coca Rocha, Darcy Bussell, Marcia Cross and Joan Collins.

Anjali Potter, event director at SME London, said because of the success of this year’s event, the company is already planning a second show for next year, set to take place on 22-23 March 2014 at Battersea Evolution.

She said: "We have been absolutely thrilled with response from exhibitors and visitors alike. Being a launch event there is always that element of the unknown but we were confident that in partnership with the authoritative team at Condé Nast Brides, we would deliver a truly spectacular and unmissable event for every discerning bride-to-be.

"Having learnt so much from this first event, and with the support of the industry growing, our team is already well underway planning for our spring event in March 2014."
