As part of the activity a viewing platform on the 72nd floor of The Shard will play host to the nation’s highest English garden. It opened on Thursday 2 June and will remain in situ until 18 September.
The space features thousands of blooms in celebration of The Year of the English Garden, with visitors also able to purchase cocktails from a green-fingers inspired menu, and get their hands on their own seed kits supplied by Grow Wild.
An initiative of the Royal Botanic Gardens in Kew, Grow Wild is the UK’s biggest-ever wildflower campaign. It brings people together to transform local spaces with native wild flowers and plants.
According to the group, the UK has lost 97% of its wild flower meadows since the 1930s, which has had a significant impact on populations of butterflies, bees, pollinating bugs and birds.
