The panel, which included Smart Group's chief executive Greg Lawson and Katie Resnick, vice president of events at Freemantle Media, judged four catering companies on their food and presentation skills.
Bubble Food served up their range of quirky, molecular-inspired dishes, while Food by Dish recreated menus designed for high-end private and corporate events such as an ‘I love the 1980s’ party.
The next day, Harbour and Jones showcased their Save the Orchards campaign, which featured a huge countryside centrepiece of apples and trees. Finally, Payne and Gunter gave judges a taste of the Brit Awards before introducing them to a steampunk-inspired dessert bar.
The panel also judged presentations from Rising Star award contenders Sian Downes from the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce, Victoria Hart from EMAP, Chloe Martin from Ampersand Events and Alex Wilby from Ashfield Meetings and Events.
Winners will be announced at the Event Awards 2014 ceremony, taking place on Thursday 2 October at Troxy in east London.
