In pictures: Alzheimer's Research UK launches VR activation

Alzheimer's Research UK has worked with agency Fisher Productions to launch a three-day virtual reality (VR) pop-up at St Pancras International, which runs from 2-4 June.

The installation is part of the dementia research charity’s ‘Walk Through Dementia’ campaign, #walkdementia, which aims to drive awareness of the lesser known symptoms of the condition.

Fisher Productions has used natural materials to create a lenticular panel, located on the main concourse of St Pancras station in London, which reveals varying content on dementia from different angles.

The activation offers four three-minute experiences, each focusing on a common daily task, such as making tea or supermarket shopping.

On each journey, users will experience a range of symptoms, including difficulty with reading, numeracy, visual-spatial problems, coordination and disorientation. The purpose of the content is to show what it is like to be in the early stages of dementia.

The experience is voiced by actress Dame Harriet Walter and introduced by broadcaster Jon Snow.
