PHD retains £5m EasyCar business after two-way pitch

LONDON - PHD has retained its £5m pan-European media planning and buying business for the Stelios Haji-Ioannou-owned EasyCar, following a final two-way pitch against OMD.

The review was called last month and was overseen by EasyCar chief executive Steve Mathy, acting marketing manger Georgina Appleton and director of corporate affairs James Rothie.

The troubled car rental business has struggled financially and its most recently reported results showed losses of £13.2m for the year. The company has 50 sites across the UK, France, Spain and Switzerland.

EasyGroup recently announced that it was to broaden its offering with the launch of Easy4Men male grooming products, as well as other ventures such as EasyCruise, due to launch next year and easyHotel.

OMD handles the bulk of planning and buying for sister company EasyJet.
