In the role, Horswell will advise Tamara Gillan, the agency's managing director and founder, on strategic issues as well as company structure and planning. The agency said that in making the move Horswell has invested an undisclosed stake in the firm.
Horswell has more than 27 years' experience in the media business and in 1990 set up media agency PHD, which was later sold to Omnicom Group.
He left PHD in 2001 and a year later set up his own consultancy business for small- to medium-sized creative firms called Uncle, which he still runs.
Gillan said: "There's nothing like having someone on board who has been there, done it and knows what he is talking about. The support of a known industry figure like Nick Horswell is a great endorsement of how far we've come in such a short period of time."
Horswell said: "I am impressed by the SPF 15 proposition, which is clear and highly relevant, and its people."
