Publisher Penguin is developing a web site for its children’s
Ladybird brand as part of a number of site launches and revamps planned
for 2000.
The Ladybird site (www.
ladybird.co.uk), designed by Definition Digital Media, will launch at the
end of May and be aimed at parents, teachers and children. Children’s
activities will include the ability to print out a bedtime story, play
games, send e-cards featuring Ladybird characters, and enter
competitions.
An onscreen rewards system is being developed and the Ladybird character
will offer help with navigation through the site, which will also carry
downloadable classroom resources for teachers and support material for
parents teaching their children to read.
Other Penguin launches planned for 2000 include a site focusing on Spot
the Dog (www.funwithspot.com) and a revamped Puffin web site to launch in
September.
The company is also revamping its penguin.co.uk site in conjunction with
Pearson sister company Headland Digital Media. The new site, which
launches in June 2000, will be backed by a consumer advertising and PR
campaign breaking in September. Penguin.co. uk will have services aimed at
booksellers, academics and journalists, as well as improved e-commerce
facilities.
