The agency will run the government's first marketing and public
information activity relating to passports as it seeks to cut down the
lengthy queues seen at UK Passport Offices every summer. The work is
worth about pounds 500,000.
The appointment follows research undertaken by the Passport Agency,
which found that many people did not realise they could apply for
passports through travel agents, a call centre and online. Five million
passports are issued annually in the UK.
The first work, a press campaign, will break later this month, followed
by further activity in the autumn and early next year.
It will initially comprise radio, press, online and Teletext
advertising, and may include TV at a later date.
The Passport Agency is also planning a campaign to in-form the public
that its headquarters are moving from London's Petty France to Victoria
later this year.
