Three PSAs highlight parents of teens suffering substance abuse
DDB California has crafted three pro bono ads for the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids.
Aimed at parents, each of the three videos shows a mom or dad confiding in a friend about a child's substance abuse — and receiving an awkward response. The PSAs then point the viewer to a website that offers answers.
"Opening up about drug abuse, even to a good friend, is an alienating experience," said Jonathan Byrne, creative director for DDB California. "Friends, normally quick with advice for more trivial matters, just don’t know how to help."
The ads were directed by two-time Academy Award winner Angus Wall. The ads include the new name and logo for the organization revealed several months ago.
