The Newspaper Marketing Agency (NMA) takes out a full page in The Daily Telegraph to champion its "ad of the month", after its Anna awards. It pictures the recent Megane campaign, "The Megan experiment", and urges readers to see more nominated work at a dedicated microsite.

It's never too early for Christmas ads, or so the national press thinks. M&S takes the prize for the first Christmas cake ad of the season today. It pictures a somewhat unappealing current cake, while most shoppers are gearing up for Halloween, with pictures of a pumpkin weighing more than a Fiat emerging on the editorial pages.

Tesco is more on the mark offering seasonal fruit and vegetables at half price, and Waitrose highlights its latest recipe card, an autumn pork dish from Heston Blumenthal.

Sainsbury's advertises "everything you need for a great night in" with pizzas and ice cream for £2. Meanwhile, Asda offers reduced-price DVDs and games as part of its "big entertainment event".

Asda's George clothing brand joins the trend to use "real-life" models, picturing Elise, an NHS worker, wearing one of its winter coats in a campaign across the press.

Plusnet promises its broadband "won't be beat on price", with an ad reaching across the breadth of the national papers, while Npower advertises its local football league, encouraging readers of the Daily Mirror to find their local games this weekend.
