M&S Energy advertises money back vouchers across today’s papers. British Gas reminds readers about its Home Care service, which aims to ensure they fix heating problems on the same day they are reported.

Halifax is also preparing its customers for the cold weather, offering £500 towards heating bills when taking out a mortgage.

BT meanwhile offers autumn deals on broadband and phone lines, promising three months free when signing up.

The Yellow Pages takes out an ad in the Daily Express explaining "What we do hasn’t changed in 40 years. How we do it has." The telephone directory highlights its online services, reviews and iPad apps.

Asda launches a "half price toy event" as parents begin to think about Christmas presents and The Sun offers two for one entry at several UK theme parks and attractions. The voucher offer highlights attractions with Halloween events.

Bonhams auction house takes out an ad in The Daily Telegraph, promising autumn is a "good time to buy and sell", while the Greene King pub chain continues its press campaign, promoting its chilled rosé, "comfy corners" and drinking bowls for dogs.
