Shoe-maker Tod’s takes out an ad in The Times directing readers to its online store, while Gap advertises its "born to fit" jeans a few pages later.

Hogan promotes its bags and shoes in The Guardian, and luxury pen brand Montblanc advertises the launch of its special-edition John Lennon fountain pen in The Daily Telegraph.

Auction house Bonhams takes out an ad in The Daily Telegraph ahead of its "fine jewellery auctions" across the UK, asking readers if they wear their jewellery or "just insure it".

Nestlé promotes its fairtrade status in the Daily Mirror and the Independent, focusing on the story of a coca bean farmer and its pledge to plant new cocoa trees in the Ivory Coast.

And Sky asks Guardian readers to "join the fight to save a billion trees" after teaming up with WWF.

Argos trumps rival entertainment retailers with its price for the new Xbox release Halo Reach, advertising the game for 99p if shoppers trade in old games when they make a purchase.

Lloyds Pharmacy encourages readers to quit smoking with an ad for its new online doctor service in The Sun, and The Daily Mirror aims to get readers eating more healthily by giving away a free James Martin recipe card.
