Following a two-year struggle against breast cancer, Julie Bedwell,
Procter & Gamble’s senior production manager for health and beauty care
Europe, has died.
Bedwell, 55, had worked for the company for seven years and was a
well-known figure among the advertising agencies with which she worked,
such as Leo Burnett and Grey Advertising.
She began her career in advertising in 1962 and had worked as a senior
producer at Ogilvy & Mather Toronto, and also spent time with Leo
Burnett Hong Kong as head of television production and at Grey London as
senior producer.
Her immediate boss at Procter & Gamble, Mike Phillipson, described
Bedwell as an ’expert mother’ in her ability to ’nurture and enhance the
production area’ and the ’deep caring’ she had for people around
her.
’She was much loved and respected, but a tough negotiator too,’ said one
former colleague.
Bedwell leaves a husband and three children. A memorial gathering is
planned.
