Oxfam launches Unwrapped drive

Oxfam has lined up a raft of celebrities to push its alternative gift service, Oxfam Unwrapped, by spoofing charity appeal ads.

The TV campaign, which breaks today, features Dame Helen Mirren, Will Young, Helena Bonham-Carter and Rob Brydon. It is the first work by Leo Burnett London, which won the Oxfam account earlier this year.

The ads will convey the message that, rather than buying unwanted presents for relatives, people can buy gifts from Oxfam Unwrapped that will make a real difference to the lives of people in need. The charity will offer more than 60 gifts.

Since the launch of Oxfam Unwrapped in 2004, more than 1.2m gifts have been purchased to help people in 49 countries. The charity aims to raise £14.5m this year from the service.
