Hynes, who launched Overture in the UK in April 2000, is leaving the company. He was promoted to his current job two years ago from UK managing director and is not thought to have a job to go to.
Taylor moves up from his current position of European commercial director and takes up the role with immediate effect. Hynes will leave the business after a brief transition period.
Taylor will report to Brian Steel, Overture's international president who is based in Overture's headquarters in California.
Taylor has extensive experience in marketing and general management and has held senior marketing roles at Air Miles and Safeway. Prior to joining Overture at the beginning of 2003, he had been involved in internet businesses for six years.
More recently Taylor was founder and CEO of Securicor eSolutions, a developer of secure shopping portal services, and was previously managing director of telephone and internet travel and leisure business First Call International.
"We are very grateful to Nick for his tremendous contribution to Overture" Steel said. "He set up our first operation outside the US, subsequently establishing our business very successfully across 12 European countries. He now hands control of a market-leading business in Europe to Stephen, who has a great understanding of our business."
