On a crisp, cold evening in London last week, the creative talents behind the UK’s greatest outdoor ads of the past two years gathered under the bright lights of the Institute of Contemporary Arts’ upstairs gallery.
They – and the great and good of the outdoor industry – came to hear revealed the campaigns that had earned a place in the ±±¾©Èü³µpk10 and Outdoor Media Centre’s prestigious Outdoor Hall of Fame. The 14 winning ads featured here join the 100 greatest outdoor ads of all time already in the Outdoor Hall of Fame, which were voted in at its inception in 2011.
This latest work to be selected as standard-bearers for outdoor creativity triumphed in a public vote, in which 7,400 votes were cast, followed by scrutiny from a creative panel.
The judges included: John Treacy, the executive creative director at Elvis; Peter Souter, the chairman and chief creative officer at TBWA\London; James Hilton, the co-founder and chief creative officer at AKQA; Mick Mahoney, the executive creative director at Havas Worldwide London; and Owen Lee, the executive creative director at Inferno.
Eleven pieces of work from 2011 onwards were inducted into the Hall of Fame alongside three from before 2011. "Angel ambush" by Mindshare Invention/Grand Visual for Unilever’s Lynx in 2011 was the first digital ad to make it in.
Thanks to all who put forward their work for consideration, to those who cast the 7,400 votes and to the judges for their time and enthusiasm in making the final selection.
