Orange chooses chief for global strategy division

Orange has hired former Alta Vista international marketing chief Martin Keogh to be vice-president of operations for its global strategic division, Orange World.

His brief is to drive its data services strategy and work to deploy new services across the operating countries, reporting to executive vice-president for Orange World, Richard Brennan. "My focus is on translating our technical expertise into real-life services and help to launch these into the various markets," said Keogh.

Orange last week kicked off its first advertising campaign by newly appointed agency Mother, to promote its free picture messaging offer under the theme 'muckabout'. Last week, Orange announced it was postponing the launch of its third-generation services until the end of next year.

Keogh joined petroleum giant Shell in the summer of last year to work on internet strategy but quit after less than a fortnight. He was Alta Vista's director of international development and marketing in the search engine's heyday of 2000. Prior to that he was UK managing director at Scoot and marketing director at Virgin Net.
