Opodo shifts £2m business out of Karmarama

LONDON - Online travel company Opodo has appointed Paris agency Frederic Duverge as its pan-European creative agency, taking its £2m UK business out of Karmarama.

The appointment follows a revamp of Opodo's global positioning by brand agency Promise around the theme of "Travel inspiration". Opodo has briefed Frederic Duverge to develop the concept into a pan-European ad campaign.

The pitch was contested by Opodo's agencies in Germany, France, Italy and the UK; Karmarama had handled the UK business for two years.

The appointment is the latest in a series of changes at the travel company. Opodo is currently looking to hire its first direct marketing agency -- it has previously used email campaigns created in-house. In March, the company appointed Black Sun to handle its pan-European customer relationship marketing business.

Its media account, handled in the UK by MediaCom, is not affected by the reviews.

Opodo is owned by nine European airlines, including British Airways, Air France, Iberia and Alitalia.
