What can we expect from the newly refurbished venue?

Through technology we’ve made the venue accessible, expandable and interchangeable to meet whatever brand needs or future developments may challenge us. For instance we have a fibre core running through the building, which means all rooms can stream content to each other and around the world, video walls to enhance branding around the building, a new roof terrace and even a programmable digital chandelier in reception.

All the event spaces have been designed to be flexible, and they boast panoramic views of London. These include a new roof terrace, enlarged riverside suite, brand new second theatre, state of the art boardrooms and a ‘sesame lift’ at the front of the building, enabling the stone steps to retract automatically for wheelchair access.

Could you elaborate on the new digital installations?

Earlier in the year we unveiled a series of digital exhibits that will feature throughout the venue. These represent the future of technology but also give a nod to, and celebrate, our historic engineering past.

The striking exhibits include the aforementioned digital chandelier in our reception, live video walls on the second floor, full-height sculpture displays in the stairwells, and a show wall featuring 100 engineering ideas that changed the world.

Which event spaces will be available for hire?

While Savoy Place is the UK headquarters for the IET, the building will still serve as an external events venue. From its two lecture theatres, riverside suite and balcony, to the Heritage and Maxwell libraries and roof terrace, delegates will have access to the venue from top to bottom. Dedicated member areas will ensure the venue still fulfills its core aims to help the engineering community.

We’ve got facilities and space to accommodate any number of events from conferences to parties and dinners. The delegate experience and inspiring views across London are free.

Is the venue working with any brands to host events or experiential activity?

It is early days as the venue is only just reopening, but we have already attracted interest from brands - particularly those in the fashion and technology industries. The fact that we have so much technology to allow companies to brand and customise our spaces has been a draw, as is the ability to stream content live around the world.
