Why did you decide to depart Smyle?

After five-and-a-half years it seemed like the right time to look at what the business needed next.

We had achieved our five-year vision for the business and the team had developed greatly. I also have new projects, which have started to take up more of my focus and time.

How will you be involved with the agency moving forward?

I will continue to be a shareholder and keep updated with the business.

Why did you decide to take on the ?

Because the vision for Hiro is clear and simple. We want to make it easy for businesses to engage and use sporting talent. I was impressed with [Hiro founder and former Welsh rugby captain] Andy Moore and the team he was pulling together.

The founding shareholders of Hiro include some of the UK’s most well known names in sports and business, including Jonathan Davies, David Platt, Matthew Hoggard and Derek Redmond.

Hiro will create moments of exchange between extraordinary people, connecting businesses with their sporting heroes through engaging events. This is right up my street and I am proud to be involved. It also has a strong business model.

How is the new role treating you, approximately one month on?

It's very exciting indeed and certainly any start is a real rollercoaster. The people make it really fun and the values of sport underpin the business, and that cannot be a bad thing. The next few months are going to be fantastic.

What else is on the cards for you over the coming months?

We [Hornby and his team at Why Not] will continue to develop our commercial partnership work with Excel London and we have a number of consultancy projects in the development stage around major venues and events.

I am also really looking forward to how Grimm Productions [Hornby was involved with the immersive theatre performance at the beginning of the year] develops and how we might take this to New York in 2016.
