LONDON (Brand Republic) - Digital terrestrial TV group ONdigital plans to launch a premium sports channel to coincide with the start of the next football season.
Its coverage of the European Champions’ League and the APT tennis tournament will be boosted by additional coverage of the Nationwide League. It secured broadcast rights for the league, together with the Worthington Cup, last year in partnership with ITV in a three-year deal worth £315m.
Coverage is currently screened on ONsport, a channel included in ONdigital’s basic package. The broadcaster said it would offer the new channel to rival platforms in a similar way to that of rivals Sky Sports and NTL-owned British Eurosport.
