LONDON (Brand Republic) - Omnicom Group has reported a rise of 20% in its net income for the first quarter to $95.3m (£66.46m), up from $79.7m (£55.58m) on the same time last year.
This was before an after-tax gain during the first quarter of 2000 of $63.8m (£44.49m) for the part-sale of its stake in internet consultancy Razorfish.
Diluted earnings per share increased 16% to 52 cents a share in 2001 from 45 cents a share in 2000.
Worldwide revenue for the group increased 16% to $1.6bn (£1.1bn) in the first quarter of 2001 from $1.3bn (£961.65m) in the first quarter of 2000. This was split between US domestic revenue, which was up 25% from last year鈥檚 first quarter to $896.6m (£625.24m) compared with $717.4m (£500.28m) in 2000, and international revenue for the first quarter which increased 6% to $704.5m (£491.28m), up from $661.6m (£461.37m) in 2000.
