Omnicom donates $3m to victims' families

NEW YORK - Omnicom Group, the marketing services group, has announced it is to make a $3m (£2.1m) contribution to the Twin Towers Fund -- the fund established to care for the families of victims of terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center last week.

The fund has been set up by New York City Public/Private Initiatives specifically to care for the families of fire, police and emergency medical workers who died in the disaster.

John Wren, president and CEO of Omnicom, said, "All who witnessed Tuesday's tragic events honour the courage, selflessness and dedication of those who went into harm's way to help others. Omnicom Group would like to do our part to help the families of these heroic individuals."

He added, "Our contribution is in addition to the many individual contributions of time, effort, and financial support already made by our employees to the ongoing rescue and relief efforts in New York City."

Rudolph Giuliani, New York's mayor, has said that the Twin Towers Fund will aid "the most direct victims of this tragedy".
