OMD triumphs after four-way contest for PSA's £500m media

PSA has split its £500 million media buying and planning

account between OMD and Media Planning Group. The move sees OMD UK take

£80 million in billings following Carat's resignation this

year.

OMD has also added Germany, Switzerland and Hungary to its existing

business in Italy. Media Planning Group has retained business in Spain

and the massive £177 million account in France. It has also won

the Belgium business.

PSA, which encompasses the Peugeot and Citroen brands, began the review

of its mammoth account across seven markets - UK, France, Germany,

Italy, Hungary, Switzerland and Spain - four months ago. It invited OMD,

MBS Media, Media Planning Group and Zenith/Optimedia to pitch after

parting company with Carat Group.

Before this Carat handled the account in the UK, Germany and Belgium but

the agency split with PSA because it is keen to extend its grip on its

Renault business.

OMD is setting up a dedicated team (OMD Team PSA) to handle the PSA

business across Europe.
