OMD Europe has lured MindShare Worldwide's head of consumer
insight, Sheila Byfield, to join its top management team. Byfield will
take the newly created post of director of research and insight at OMD
Europe.
Colin Gottlieb, the chief executive of OMD Europe, has been building a
management team with cross-border responsibilities in various
disciplines since he took the helm of the Omnicom-owned media network in
this spring.
Kate Stephenson became the managing director of OMD International,
reporting to Gottlieb, in June 2001. She had the same position at OMD
South East Asia.
In April, Ian Lomas, the former head of OMD UK's TV buying division, was
promoted to the head of client operations at OMD Europe.
Byfield said: "MindShare is a great company and I have had a very
enjoyable and rewarding career in WPP. But OMD has put in place a
fantastic team of great media professionals to drive the brand forward
across Europe.
The chance to be part of that team at such an exciting time for the
company, and to have the opportunity to work with such leading creative
agencies, was simply too good to miss."
At MindShare since it launched in 1998, Byfield has driven the creation
of the worldwide Consumer Insight network and futura.com, a three-year
research project with the Independent Television Commission.
She is currently the chairman of the European Association of
Communications Agencies Media Research Committee.
